– Why this new FlyWheel cycling studio in Playa Vista is so FLY –
Incorporating indoor cycling into my regimen has really amped up my workout game. Not only am I increasing my endurance but spinning is joint-friendly and perfect for all ages. FlyWheel has really created a new type of workout that allows every rider, regardless of level, to bring out the best in themselves. They incorporate performance tracking technology in an immersive, interactive, and music-driven indoor cycling experience that makes it fabulous, fit, and fun! I always grab my friends to spin at FlyWheel and experience the wonders of group fitness together.
The new Playa Vista location opened up last year and is in a prime location. After a big sweat grab a green juice at the Whole Foods next door, brunch it up with a gourmet burger at Hopdoddy or a poke bowl at Da Kikokiko, a cup of joe at Starbucks, or just walk around the hip outdoor center. Tip: There’s an awesome Farmers Market happenin’ on Saturday mornings and they set up right up in front of FlyWheel!

Various length classes fit any busy schedule (45-min, 60-min, 90-min). The bikes are equipped with tech digital displays to accurately adjust and gauge your progress using resistance and reading RPMs. If you’re feeling competitive, opt-in for the TorqBoard so you can see how you’re blazing against other riders. Tip: If it’s your first time, arrive at least 10 minutes earlier to familiarize yourself with the studio and get adjusted on your bike. Proper bike alignment and form is important for a comfortable ride.
Highly trained instructors hype and inspire you to spin your best. I’ve been riding with Veronique L. (Vern) in WeHo, and she also teaches at this new PV location. Her awesome playlist of quick beats enable me to rhythm ride, gives me the extra push during sprints and pull me through intense climbs. I also adore Noel A.! Her classes are intensely difficult but I’m always amazed at my progress when hitting my climbs, speedwork sprints, and lasting endurance.
Private rooms with showers! This is different from the typical communal locker rooms with showers. There are about 3 or 4 private rooms equipped with showers, towels, and amenities.
Complimentary spin shoe rental, towel service, amenities (Bliss products), lockers, EZ Water Filtration Dispenser, and vanity area.
The front desk has been friendly and hospitable. My first visit they gave me a tour of the studio and a tutorial of the locker system.
The underground parking structure is accessible off Jefferson Blvd. I park in the Whole Foods lot and FlyWheel is just across the way. FlyWheel validates for 1 hour.
First-time Riders’ class is $15! If you’re interested in incorporating FlyWheel into your workout regimen regularly, I highly recommend trying ClassPass! I’m a big fangirl of ClassPass and you get $30 off your first month! Get your sweat on, here (http://class.ps/lv_Rw).
