Yup, we’re selling our condo. Our first home together in Los Angeles.
There were so many magical memories associated with buying our first home several years ago. I remember we got our keys and moved in the week before getting married. (Boy, was that a whirlwind of a week!) Two huge steps to real adulthood–Mortgage & Lifelong Commitment.
We love our home. It’s our favorite place to be–with people we love.
God has really blessed us with this place to call our first home and given us the opportunity to share this space with loved ones. We’ve cooked countless holiday feasts and shared intimate meals, held meetings for groups we serve with, adopted our first dog to bring home, played bed and breakfast for family during our wedding, and even had as many as six people stay in our 2-bedroom condo. Our home was like a retreat for many.
Even though we bought new, over the years we loved having little home improvement projects to really make it our own. We installed our own subway tile in the kitchen (a recap post on that to come), built pull out drawers in the large kitchen cabinet (see photos below), created shelving and a shoe rack in the once empty pantry, and built out a fully customized walk-in master closet. We really love working with our hands and these projects not only represented home improvements, but craftsmanship filled with love and purpose.
Why the move?
And now, there are also many bittersweet feelings selling our condo. A lot of our friends are asking why the move. Although we love living in the beach cities, we always dreamed of a single-family home–not worrying about making “too much noise” for the neighbors above/below us, Bentley to run around in the yard, growing vegetables and fruit trees in the backyard, having a large enough space to entertain friends and family, closer to family, a good school system, and of course, for Wayne to have his woodworking space in the garage. So that’s the reason for the house hunt…
Goodbye to our first home
Our condo photographed beautifully. My favorite space is the open-concept floor plan of the kitchen, dining, and living room. Whenever we walk into our home it’s so bright, airy, and a relaxing space. Also this is the official unveiling of Wayne’s beautiful walnut masterpieces–the coffee table and entryway bench! He even welded the bracket legs!
Selling our condo UPDATE
Buying and selling a home is a huge investment and commitment. The whole process is daunting and finding a trustworthy agent is more overwhelming. John Capellaro and Derek Hirano make up The Capellaro Group and they are the best decision my husband and I made to sell our condo .

- They understand the market and are great negotiators with us in their best interest. Our condo was on the market for one day! They sold our condo quicker than expected and got top dollar for our place.
- They go the extra mile for their clients. If we weren’t able to meet up with the repair guy or stagers they were there to let them in. They also stayed the entire time to make sure the work is done and lock up after.
- Their tech savvy office is a well-oiled machine. They utilize DocuSign, which is such a blessing for working professionals. Being able to sign electronically with a click of a button on my phone makes the whole process so efficient.
- As first-time home sellers, they are communicative with the entire process and sent us an email of important dates and what to expect.
